WelcomeWelcome to Four Paws Pet-Sitting Service’s web site! Thank you for your interest and for considering Four Paws. My name is Debra Y. Milton and I founded Four Paws Pet-Sitting Service. Four Paws is vet recommended and we have excellent references along with many years of experience caring for cats and dogs. Please review the site and feel free to contact Four Paws with any questions you may have regarding the services we provide. Please adopt from your local animal shelter or humane society – save a life! Background - Four Paws is located in Douglasville, Georgia and is owned by Debra Y. Milton. Four Paws is an alternative to kenneling and doggie-day care. Four Paws comes to you. Four Paws specializes in cats and dogs. Debra has been a member of and a volunteer for the Douglas County Humane Society for many years. She is also a member of Pet Sitters International, the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, the Georgia Network of Professional Petsitters and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce. Four Paws is bonded and insured with Business Insurers of the Carolinas and serves the Douglasville area. Four Paws is veterinarian recommended. What is Pet Sitting? – The definition of pet sitting is “the act of caring for a pet in its own home while the owner is away.” How does the service work? – Whether you are on vacation, spending long hours at work, or away for an unexpected trip, you can be assured that your pet is being well cared for in his or her home environment. With our service your animals are able to stay in their own home where they are comfortable and secure. You don’t need to inconvenience family and friends by asking them to look after your pets. We come to your house one, two or threes times a day to do whatever you need. While pet sitting, we will, at no additional charge, pick up your mail and newspapers and rotate your lights. Your home is made more secure by these crime deterrent measures. Services - We feed and water your pets, walk your pets, exercise and play time, petting and loving, treats (if allowed), administer oral and topical medications and vitamins, litter box cleanup, clean up pet accidents, turn on radio and television for pets. We also offer extended daily dog walking if you work long hours and your pet needs a mid-day walk or just extra playtime. Our loving care extends to providing emergency trips to your vet or a local 24 hour emergency veterinarian facility should your pet become ill while you are away. As every situation is unique, we ask that you call us to discuss your pet’s personalized fee schedule. We do not provide overnights, live-ins, pet taxi or boarding; however, we work with other pet-care professionals who do offer these services and we will be happy to provide you with referrals. We are also happy to provide you with referrals for veterinarians who can provide professional care for your pets. Professional Pet Sitter of the Year Award - I was very honored and overwhelmed to receive word from Pet Sitters International (PSI) that I had been nominated as one of the Top Five Finalists for the 2006 Pet Sitter of the Year Award. Pet Sitters International is the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters with over 7,400 members. Included below are passages from an email Four Paws received from PSI regarding the judges, the nomination and selection process. Debra, the judges who cast their votes among the Top Five Finalists were Steve Dale, Pet World; Dr. Roland Tripp, The Animal Behavior Network; and Bud Most, The Iams Company. They were all so very complimentary about the professionalism and the level of pet care, compassion and community spirit exhibited by each one of you. You should be proud! Dr Tripp even said, "I was knocked out by the caliber of people involved. I used to think that veterinarians were the best people on earth, but now I know we have competition." Again, congratulations on being named a Top Five Finalist. PSI is very proud--and lucky--to have pet sitters like you as members. What is the next step? – Book your reservations in advance. For the initial visit, we will set up an appointment to meet you and your pet(s) in order to obtain information about individualized care for your pet(s), complete our comprehensive questionnaire, sign the contract for services, and obtain keys to your home. We maintain a ready-key program should you wish to leave keys on file with us. This service allows us to take future reservations over the phone or via email. We offer a discount to those pet owners whose animals have been adopted from the Douglas County Humane Society. Please show us your adoption agreement during our initial visit to obtain the discount. We give loving care to all of the paws in your family. We are happy to provide you with a list of references upon request.
